About the Promotion

As the Terra Cotta Warriors take center stage at the National Geographic Museum this fall and winter, travelers can take advantage of great hotel deals including free breakfast for two or parking plus access to exclusive any day, any time tickets to see the exhibition through Destination DC’s “Weekend Warriors” promotion.

Running October through December 2009, the “Weekend Warriors” promotion combines the season’s most talked-about cultural, sports and holiday events with value-driven hotel packages. The promotion highlights China-themed programs taking place at restaurants and cultural venues throughout the city in conjunction with the warriors’ DC appearance, as well as international art exhibitions and performances, holiday happenings, sports events and military commemorations.

At the heart of the promotion, Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor features 15 life-sized terra cotta figures unearthed from the tomb of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shihuangdi, who ruled from 221-210 B.C. After drawing record crowds at its prior engagements, the exhibition makes the final stop on its U.S. tour at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, DC Nov. 19, 2009 through March 31, 2010.
